Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Talib (4.61 AH), known as Imam Hussain, Abu Abd Allah and Sayyid al-Shahada, is the third Imam of the Shias who was martyred in the Ashura event. You are the second son of Imam Ali (A) and Fatima Zahra (A) and the grandson of the Holy Prophet (S). He held the position of Imamate for ten years after his brother Imam Hasan Mujtabi.

 

According to Shia and Sunni historical sources, the Prophet of God (PBUH) announced his martyrdom at the time of his birth and named him Hussain. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) loved Hasnain (AS) very much and recommended to love her. Imam Hussain (a.s.) is one of the Companions of Kisa, he was also present in Mubahlah and he is one of the Prophet's family, in whose honor the verse of purification was revealed. Many traditions have been narrated from the Holy Prophet in praise of Imam Hussain (AS) such as; Hasan and Hussain are the leaders of the youth of heaven and Hussain is the lamp of guidance and the ship of salvation.

 

Very little information is available about his life in the thirty years after his death. You were with Amirul Momineen (AS) during the Khilafat period and participated in the wars of that period. During the Imamate of Imam Hasan (a.s.), he became his hand and arm and supported the reconciliation of Imam Hasan (a.s.) with Muawiya. From the martyrdom of Imam Hasan until the death of Muawiya, he remained in this position and when some Shias of Kufa requested him to rise against the Umayyads and take over the leadership of the Shias, he advised them to be patient until the death of Muawiya.
