SOZ-E-WATAN - A Few Thoughts

Premchand's literary life and the twentieth century start together. Some essays, biographies, and later novels (Israr-e-Muahida (The Secret Pact, اسرار معاہدہ), Hum Khurma Waham Sawaab (ہم خرما وہم ثواب) and Kishna (کشنا)) is evidence for this, but the general perception regarding the story is that Premchand's first story is the world's most precious rattan.

Premchand himself attributed his first story to him and published it in 1906 AD, but this text is found in one place.

"The name of my first story was The Most Precious Rattan of the World. It was published in "Zamana" in 1907. After that, I wrote four or five more stories." By “Pen Ka Mazdoor” Page 32.

What is the basis of the stories of SOZ-E-WATAN in terms of art and whether they are a mirror of modern western concepts and standards or not is a separate debate, which will spread as much as it is discussed?

In the preface of the SOZ-E-WATAN, Premchand writes,

"Each nation's knowledge and literature is the true image of its time. The thoughts that move the minds of the nation and the emotions that resonate in the hearts of the nation are such purity in the pages of poetry and prose. The early period of our literature was when people were intoxicated by negligence. The literary monuments of that time are nothing but romantic Poetyr and a few stories."

Five stories were published in SOZ-E-WATAN, the details of which are as follows.

Dunya ka Sab se Anmol Ratan” (دنیا کا سب سے انمول رتن) - This is the story of a lover whose beloved demands him the most precious and precious thing in the world and flutters that if he brings the priceless thing, I will accept you as my slave.

He had no companion in the world anymore. An era passed and the farewells of his youth began to take place.

3.       Yehi Mera Watan Hay” (یہی میرا وطن ہے) - This story is about the return of an old man to India after a long time, who in his youth went to America for a better job, got married there and ran an excellent business, but in his last age is returning with memories of his homeland and how times have changed.
