Balochistan has always been a touchy subject for me. I had the opportunity to visit Quetta for the first time in the 80s and then the series continued. During Nazir Bhutto's regime, the news of American occupation was being spread I was sent by Honorable Majeed Nizami Sahib as a special guard where I tried my best to find only those arguments during my four days stay that would convince me of the bitter truth that our Lord has earnestly and honestly desired this till date that Balochistan should be part of Pakistan?
On the problem of Balochistan, which cannot be called new at all, the same comment has been coming out from the ruling authorities of our governments till today with a few changes, the bottom line of which is that the chiefdom system of Balochistan is the basis of this problem. And as long as this system is here, the problem will remain.
Because Baloch chiefs will never allow construction and development works in their areas. They will not allow the situation of poor Baloch to improve, on the contrary, they will continue to take money from the governments by blackmailing them, and whenever the government of Pakistan tried to stop their ongoing stipend, the Baloch chiefs would immediately pick up their guns and climb the mountains.
Official comments of this nature have been heard not today but since 1959. Is the government's position correct? Is the blackmailing of Baloch chiefs really the basis of all problems? You will get the answers to these questions in this book “Balochistan Ka Atishfishan” but one basic fact which none of us intelligent can ignore is that our rulers have neglected Balochistan to the extent of cruelty.
